Also called Tractor-Trailer Commercial Drivers

Truck drivers are responsible for safely transporting goods and materials on roads and highways throughout North America.

Truck drivers typically:

  • plan routes to minimize travel time, fuel costs and hazards, and include fuel and rest stops and layovers
  • perform vehicle inspections and identify and report malfunctions
  • secure loads
  • prepare paper or electronic documents including daily logs, expense reports, bills of lading and border-crossing documents
  • report collisions
