Steel Erector

Jul 5, 2016

Also called Metal Building Systems Erector

Steel erectors fabricate, construct and join scaffolding, erect pre-engineered buildings and sometimes perform reconstructive work on existing structures.

In general, steel erectors:

  • read blueprints, plan workflow and unload and organize steel units
  • prepare scaffolding, hoisting equipment and rigging to move materials
  • attach cables and direct crane operators
  • position steel units, check alignment and join steel parts by bolting them

Steel erectors work primarily in commercial and industrial construction.
