Also called Rigging and Machinery Moving Ironworkers
Riggers employ equipment such as power hoists, cranes, derricks, forklifts and aerial lifts, often using chain, cable, fibre line and associated tackle, to lift and move heavy loads over short distances. They load, unload, move and set up machinery, and install structural steel and curtain walls.
Other duties may include:
- fabricating, setting up, and repairing rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear
- aligning, leveling and anchoring hoisting machinery
- attaching pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures and loads to rigging
- dismantling and storing rigging equipment
