COPING AND FLASHING

Jul 8, 2016

Coping and flashing is another way to protect the building from the elements. Coping is installed on top of a parapet wall and works with flashing and scuppers to direct water away from the building structure. There are several different types of flashing, such as base and counter, valley, saddle and through wall. They all work together keeping the building structure dry and free of moisture.

Coping and flashing is commonly seen on built-up concrete roofs. We also use flashing on many roof penetrations to direct water away from any openings. Other materials that require flashing include smoke hatches, skylights, ventilators, exhaust hoods, package units, scuttles, goose neck, curbs and weather caps.
